Contributor Guidelines
Overview
Gender Revolution is a blog with a mission. This mission is to educate, advocate, and celebrate. We examine and challenge the traditional gender binary, and we urge others to embrace and support gender diversity.
Our Readers
We target a very wide audience. Readers include individuals who identify as transgender, transsexual, intersex, genderqueer, genderfluid, and other variations of gender identity. Spouses, significant others, family members, and friends of gender variant individuals are also part of our audience. Others readers include gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, heterosexuals, therapists, physicians, and gender specialists. Many readers may consider themselves “gender-normative” and be interested in learning about the gender spectrum.
Our readers span all ages, races, nationalities, religions, beliefs and opinions, and educational backgrounds. We do not expect that articles will address every group but note that articles should speak to the interests of the larger readership.
What to Send Us
We are mostly interested in original material. If you have published your materials before or plan to do so simultaneously in another venue, please be sure to let us know. We accept submissions on gender issues of general interest. We encourage writers to browse our current blog articles to get an idea of the tone and style of the blog, as well as the general acceptable length of articles. We encourage thought-provoking articles, including personal stories if relevant, and enjoy humor when used appropriately.
How to Submit
Submissions should be sent to Kris Kidd, Submissions Editor at submissions@genderrevolution.com. These formats are acceptable for text files: Microsoft Word, Rich Test Files (RTF), and Text. It is also fine to send the article as text in the body of an email. We would love original photographs that depict anything having to do with gender. Graphic images should be in PNG, GIF, or JPG format. Pictures should be scanned at 72 dpi if possible. If you are submitting a video, please send a link in your email message (youtube videos preferred). We do not accept zipped files unless they are self-extracting. Please think about including an optional brief biography and photo (if possible) with your submission.
Because of the nature of our topic, we are willing to accept materials that are listed as Anonymous or under a pen name for your personal privacy, but you must be sure to state this clearly in your email. Please be sure to keep a copy of your submission for yourself, as we are unable to return submissions. We reserve the right to edit materials as needed for clarity but would contact you via email if substantial changes to materials are required.

Please send us stuff. We want the voices of many people included in this blog. If we are unable to use your submission, we will contact you via email to let you know.
As we are a new blog, we are unable to provide remuneration for use of materials from contributors, but we will list your name on the blog (if desired) and be happy to publish links to your blog if you have one. We are all in this together for a good cause. We eventually hope to have stickers and other swag to give away to contributors in appreciation for your interest and hard work.
